Kompany Responds to Fabricated Transfer Rumors
Vincent Kompany did not bother hiding his irritation.
On the eve of Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga trip to Schalke, the head coach cut down a swirling transfer story with a single, sharp line.
“You pulled that information out of the AI cloud,” he snapped when asked about reports of a supposed clash with the club’s board over summer recruitment.
Kompany hits back at ‘fabricated’ transfer row
The claims, originating from SportBild, painted a picture of tension in Munich. According to the report, Kompany had pushed hard for a third marquee signing after the arrivals of Morocco international Ismael Saibari and left-back Nathaniel Brown, and only backed down after a “long conversation” with the hierarchy.
Kompany was having none of it.
He made it clear he would normally refuse to discuss internal matters in public. “What we discuss internally is ultimately an internal matter,” he reminded the room. Being asked to respond to something he insists never happened clearly grated, though. Facing questions about a story he branded fabricated, he described the situation as “a bit mad”.
The message was blunt: there was no showdown, no ultimatum, no late-window stand-off over signings.
Bayern back their coach
Bayern’s sporting director Christoph Freund stepped in to reinforce that line and close ranks around his coach.
The club had shifted strategy late in the window, choosing to use the final spots in the senior squad to promote and trust younger players rather than chase another big-name arrival. According to Freund, that was not a unilateral decision from upstairs. It was a plan agreed in advance.
He stressed the harmony between the technical area and the recruitment department, pushing back against any notion of internal friction. “We were in daily contact with Vincent. But we never spoke about anything like that,” Freund said, dismissing suggestions of hidden demands or secret transfer lists.
The picture from inside Säbener Straße is one of alignment: a new coach, a refreshed squad, and a commitment to youth as part of Bayern’s next cycle, not a club scrambling after a missed target.
Musiala’s health and a cautious optimism
Amid the noise around transfers, Kompany also addressed something far more important: Jamal Musiala’s health.
The playmaker has been under close observation after collapsing on the pitch, a moment that sent a jolt through the club and the league. Bayern have moved carefully since then, prioritising medical checks and monitoring every step of his workload.
Kompany sounded cautiously upbeat. He said Musiala is receiving the best possible care and has been showing encouraging signs in training. “For him, things are looking up again. We have been dealing with this for a long time,” the coach explained, hinting at an issue the club has managed carefully over an extended period rather than a sudden, isolated scare.
He went further, suggesting that if such an incident were to recur only once in “40, 50, or 60 games,” it would no longer be seen as a major cause for concern within the club’s medical framework.
For Bayern, the Schalke trip now comes with two clear strands: a squad built around a deliberate shift in strategy, and a generational talent edging back toward normality after a worrying episode. How both stories develop will say far more about Kompany’s Bayern than any rumour from the “AI cloud.”
