Lamine Yamal Shines with Two Goals in Barcelona's 5-0 Victory

Lamine Yamal is back – and he didn’t bother easing himself in.

The 19-year-old lit up Mestalla on Sunday night, striking twice in FC Barcelona’s ruthless 5-0 demolition of Valencia, his first goals of the La Liga season and a sharp reminder of why he’s been tagged as Spain’s next great star.

Early strike, family tribute

It took him six minutes.

Yamal darted into space, took the pass in stride and, still at full speed, whipped his leg up to waist height. With the tip of his toes he caught the ball clean, guiding it past the keeper and into the net to open the scoring. No touch, no adjustment, just instinct and technique.

The celebration was pure emotion. Thumb to his mouth, he dedicated the goal to his toddler brother, Keyne, who was reportedly turning four on the day of the match. In the stands, Keyne and Yamal’s mother watched him own the stage.

Barcelona never let Valencia breathe. Fermín López added his name to the scoresheet, Raphinha joined in, and then came the finish from Rodri – Yamal’s Spain teammate and a Golden Ball winner – as the visitors turned a strong start into a full-blown rout.

Yamal closes the show

The night began with Yamal and, fittingly, it ended with him too.

In the 84th minute, Dani Olmo slipped him the ball and Yamal did the rest. Shaping his body, he drove through the shot with his left foot, sending it across himself and into the net for Barça’s fifth. Another precise, clinical finish. Another reminder that, when he’s fit, he changes the feel of this attack.

Those two goals bookended the contest and underlined Barcelona’s authority. Four games, four wins, 4-0 in the league and sitting on top of the La Liga table.

Yamal has already ripped up age records for both Barcelona and the league, but this performance carried an extra edge. He missed the end of last season with a hamstring injury while the club marched to the La Liga title in May. Now he’s healthy, hungry, and back in the starting script.

Barcelona are champions, unbeaten, and back on top. With Yamal hitting stride again, the real question is how far they can stretch this dominance.
