Liverpool Pursues Bradley Barcola as PSG Lowers Demands
Liverpool’s pursuit of Bradley Barcola has reached a new phase, with Paris Saint-Germain now ready to listen to offers below their original sky‑high demand, according to reports in France.
The Premier League side have already moved aggressively in this window. Victor Munoz has arrived from Osasuna to sharpen the attack, while centre-backs Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes and Ronald Araujo from Barcelona have been brought in to reinforce the spine. The rebuild is clear. So is the gap: replacing the goals, chaos and presence of Mohamed Salah out wide.
Liverpool explored a move for Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig, only to see the winger lean towards PSG or Real Madrid. That setback pushed the Anfield recruitment team firmly towards Barcola, who has slipped down Luis Enrique’s hierarchy at the Parc des Princes.
For weeks, negotiations have rumbled on. PSG were widely reported to want around £130m (€152m) for the France international, a figure that underlined how reluctant they were to lose him. Now, though, the stance has shifted.
French outlet Jeunes Footeux report that PSG are effectively offering a “discount” on Barcola, described as a “gift” to Liverpool. The piece claims that while the Ligue 1 champions had long set a minimum of €150m, recent signings in attacking areas have softened that position. PSG are now said to be prepared to consider bids in the €130–140m range.
It is only a “relative” discount, as the report stresses, but it underlines how highly the Paris hierarchy still rate Barcola. The message from the French champions is also firm: they are under no pressure to sell and have no intention of going any lower or becoming “more generous”.
The pressure finally told on the transfer narrative when Fabrizio Romano weighed in. Speaking on his YouTube channel, the Italian transfer specialist delivered a bullish update on Liverpool’s chances and the pace of talks.
Romano highlighted that both Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye were not even on the bench for PSG, a clear signal over their futures. With Desire Doue, Ousmane Dembele, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Ferran Torres, Mika Goots and Maghnes Akliouche already crowding the attacking positions, PSG’s forward line is stacked. The expectation, Romano said, is that both Barcola and Mbaye will leave.
Against that backdrop, Liverpool have stepped to the front of the queue. Romano stated that the Reds are “negotiating for Barcola”, are “confident for Barcola” and are actively “pushing for Barcola”. According to him, Liverpool already have a verbal agreement on personal terms with the player.
Now comes the decisive stretch. Romano expects the deal to “accelerate”, with the start of the week viewed as the beginning of the crucial stages in talks between the clubs. Liverpool want to move fast. PSG know they hold a valuable asset and a strong hand.
A discount, a verbal agreement and a winger slipping out of PSG’s plans: all the pieces are on the table. The question is whether Liverpool are prepared to pay the price that finally unlocks their post-Salah frontline.
