Under new manager Andoni Iraola, Liverpool is gearing up for the 2026/27 season with a preseason tour across the United States. This trip comes shortly after the 2026 FIFA World Cup held in North America, setting the stage for fitness building and squad preparation.
The Reds will visit cities including Nashville, New York City, and Chicago as part of their buildup. Some players returning from World Cup duty require rest, while others are ready to jump into preseason action.
Preseason Match Results and Upcoming Fixtures
Liverpool kicked off their preparations with a 4-2 win against Sunderland in Nashville on July 25. Goals from Dominik Szoboszlai and Federico Chiesa surrounded halftime, with promising young players Kieran Morris and Lewis Koumas also finding the net.
The next challenge awaits on July 29 against Wrexham at Yankee Stadium in New York City, followed by matches against Leeds United in Chicago and two games back home at Anfield versus AS Monaco and Como.

Players involved in the World Cup get 21 days off after their tournament ends. Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak, whose teams exited early in the knockout rounds, have already rejoined Liverpool’s squad and will build up fitness in time for the season start.
Start of the Premier League Season
Liverpool opens its 2026/27 league campaign away at Newcastle United on Sunday, August 23, kicking off at 4:30 p.m. local time (11:30 a.m. ET). Following that, the team alternates between home and away fixtures until late October when they finally host consecutive home games against Brighton and Arsenal.
