Manchester United Pursue Francisco Conceicao as Juventus Eye Zirkzee Swap
Manchester United have moved to the front of the queue for Francisco Conceicao, with Juventus ready to listen to a player-plus-cash offer that could reshape both clubs’ forward lines.
According to Sportmediaset, United are actively driving talks for the Portuguese winger, who may leave Turin after just two seasons. Michael Carrick wants a new wide threat to sharpen his attack, and Conceicao has emerged as a priority target.
Juventus took Conceicao on loan from Porto in the summer of 2024, then made the move permanent for €30 million once he established himself as a key part of the project, first under Igor Tudor and then Luciano Spalletti. His sharp, direct style and consistency on the flank quickly turned him into a cornerstone in Turin.
That rise has not gone unnoticed in England. Liverpool are keeping tabs on the situation, but United are described as the most aggressive suitors at this stage.
Juve now value Conceicao at between €50m and €60m. On paper, it is a steep figure. In reality, the numbers could change quickly if United put the right name into the deal.
That name is Joshua Zirkzee.
United are reportedly prepared to offer €30m plus the Dutch striker to secure Conceicao. Zirkzee is no longer seen as central to United’s long-term plans, and the chance to return to Serie A appeals to him. His profile fits what Juventus are looking for: a mobile, technical centre-forward with top-flight Italian experience.
Spalletti is understood to admire Zirkzee’s qualities, which makes the potential exchange particularly attractive for the Bianconeri as they search for a new forward this summer. A striker they like, cash in hand, and no prolonged auction for their winger – on paper, it ticks a lot of boxes.
At the heart of it all is Jorge Mendes. The super-agent is heavily involved in brokering the negotiations between the two clubs, working to shape a structure that suits the finances and tactical needs on both sides. He is expected to formally present the proposal to the Juventus hierarchy at Continassa in the coming days.
Inside both camps, the framework is seen as close to ideal. Carrick would finally get the dynamic wide player he has been missing, someone capable of stretching defences and carrying the ball with purpose. Juventus, in turn, would secure a proven Serie A striker and a useful cash injection to continue retooling the squad.
If Zirkzee lands in Turin, though, Juventus will have to clear space in their attacking department. That points directly to Jonathan David.
David is now viewed as the primary candidate to depart to make room for the Dutchman. With Lois Openda heading to Lyon and the expected arrival of Randal Kolo Muani, the Canadian is no longer considered untouchable by the club’s board.
He would prefer to stay, but Juventus are ready to approve a sale at around €30m. Interest is already forming. Crystal Palace and Aston Villa have made early enquiries from the Premier League, while French sides Rennes and Paris FC are also pushing with concrete intent.
One move at the top end of the pitch rarely stands alone. If United get their winger, Juventus their striker, and David finds a new home, this could be one of those summer chains that redraws the attacking map across three leagues.
