“As a kid starting out playing football, then having the opportunity to play for a club like this, it’s very hard to turn down. When the opportunity came, I didn’t hesitate for a second. Watching all those magical nights, comebacks at the Bernabeu, Champions League titles—they’ve created something incredible. Being part of it is a huge responsibility but also a beautiful challenge,” he said.

At 28, Cucurella sees this transfer as a milestone after 163 appearances for Chelsea, where he won the Conference League and Club World Cup in 2025. Joining alongside new signings like Bernardo Silva, Ibrahima Konate, and Denzel Dumfries, he understands the high standards at Madrid.
“It’s an honour—not many can say they’ve worn this jersey. We’ve seen legends here; it’s the biggest club in Europe. Being here today is a privilege, an honour, and a reward for all the effort I’ve put into my career,” Cucurella reflected.
