Mason Mount to Miss Manchester United's Pre-Season Match Against Leeds

Mason Mount is expected to sit out Manchester United’s next pre-season stop on Wednesday, with the midfielder set to miss the meeting with Leeds at Croke Park.

The 27-year-old has been one of United’s standout performers in their opening three warm-up fixtures, driving play from the number eight position while new signing Andrey Santos anchored just behind him. His energy and timing from midfield have been central to Michael Carrick’s early plans.

That rhythm was disrupted in Gothenburg. Mount took a kick to the foot in the early stages of Saturday’s draw with Paris St-Germain and did not make it to half-time. Carrick moved quickly, withdrawing him in the first half and stressing it was a precaution rather than an obvious injury crisis. Mount was later seen walking without discomfort as he headed towards the team coach.

The picture since then has been less reassuring. Mount has not trained in the days following the PSG game and, as things stand, he is unlikely to feature against Leeds in Dublin. United will not gamble with a player earmarked as a key part of their midfield structure.

What comes after Leeds is less clear. There is no indication yet whether Mount will recover in time for Saturday’s final pre-season outing, when United face Ruben Amorim’s AC Milan in Wroclaw.
