Mykhailo Mudryk Returns to Competitive Football After Doping Ban

Mykhailo Mudryk has been cleared to return to competitive football immediately after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas) cut short his four-year doping ban.

The Chelsea winger, 25, has been sidelined since November 2024. He was provisionally suspended by the Football Association the following month after an "adverse finding" for meldonium, a substance on the banned list.

The FA then imposed the maximum four-year suspension, a punishment that threatened to derail the peak years of his career. Mudryk appealed to Cas, and the case has now swung decisively in his favour.

Cas confirmed that Mudryk accepted he had broken anti-doping rules, but the court ruled that the time he has already spent out of the game is a sufficient sanction. The suspension he has served will stand as his punishment, allowing him to rejoin competition "with immediate effect".

For Chelsea, it means a high-profile and high-velocity attacking option is suddenly back in the frame. For Mudryk, it is the end of a long exile and the start of a battle to rebuild both form and reputation under the harshest spotlight the modern game can offer.
