According to HLN, Roma have abandoned their pursuit of the Club Brugge striker after a €35m offer was rejected by the Belgian champions. That figure alone tells you how sharply Tresoldi’s stock has risen. Club Brugge did not blink.
The 21-year-old only arrived in Bruges last summer, signed from Hannover 96 after a steady, rather than spectacular, spell in Germany’s second tier: 14 goals in 80 games, promise without the fireworks. Belgium changed that.
This season, Tresoldi exploded. He drove Club Brugge to their 20th Belgian top-flight title, hitting 23 goals in 58 appearances across competitions and turning himself into the reference point of their attack. The numbers are strong; the feeling around him is stronger. He looks like a striker still growing into his frame, his timing, his decision-making. The ceiling is clearly higher than the current output.
That is why Roma came calling. It is why Manchester United and Chelsea are keeping their powder dry but their eyes fixed on Bruges. Both English clubs retain a concrete interest, yet neither has moved to test Club Brugge’s resolve with a formal bid. For now, Tresoldi remains an opportunity rather than an auction.
Club Brugge, meanwhile, know exactly what they have. A 21-year-old German forward, fresh off a title-winning campaign, already justifying the gamble they took when they plucked him from Hannover 96. A player who still carries the raw edges that big clubs like to think they can polish.
If he stays put and strings together another stellar season, the dynamic shifts again. The price goes up. The queue gets longer. And Tresoldi could follow a familiar path: dominate in Belgium, then cross the Channel, as Christos Tzolis did before him, to the glare and grind of the Premier League.
Roma have stepped aside. The question now is simple: do Manchester United or Chelsea move first, or does Club Brugge get one more year of their emerging No 9 before he inevitably climbs to the next rung?
