Noni Madueke is not easing his way into life at Arsenal. He is attacking it.

The 23-year-old winger, signed from PSV Eindhoven for an initial £48.5m last summer, is using his first full pre-season with the club to make a statement. While many players are winding down after a long year, Madueke is heading into the heat.

According to reporter Simon Collings, the England international is flying to Dubai for the second phase of his summer break. On paper, it sounds like a holiday. In reality, it is a training camp with a view.

Warm-weather downtime will be mixed with an intensive personal conditioning programme, all before he reports back for club duty. This is the tail end of an extended break granted after his involvement at the 2026 World Cup, where he helped England finish third. He could have switched off. Instead, he has chosen to turn the final stretch of his time off into hard work.

Dubai has become a familiar backdrop for Premier League players chasing marginal gains, and Madueke is following that path with intent. He is expected to work with specialist performance coaches, drilling repeatedly on sharpness, explosive acceleration and cardiovascular endurance. Short, brutal sessions. Long, draining runs. All under the glare of Middle Eastern heat.

The aim is simple: report back to London Colney in peak physical condition. No excuses, no catching up, no gentle build-up.

For Arsenal, it is an encouraging signal. Madueke’s commitment to his conditioning underlines a clear ambition to carve out a permanent place in Mikel Arteta’s plans. The competition is unforgiving. Bukayo Saka, managed carefully through large parts of last season, is targeting a far more productive 2026/27 campaign. Others in the attacking unit will not stand still either.

Madueke knows that reputation and transfer fee only get you so far at a club with Arsenal’s demands. The real judgement starts when pre-season begins and the minutes are handed out.

He will rejoin his teammates once his personal regimen in Dubai is complete, stepping into a squad where standards are rising and places are precious. The groundwork, quite literally, will already be done.
