Paris Saint-Germain Target Ajax Winger Mika Godts for Summer Rebuild
Paris Saint-Germain are wasting no time reshaping their attack. Fresh from sealing a €50 million deal for Norwegian forward Magnus Akliouche, the French champions have opened official talks with Ajax over highly rated winger Mika Godts.
The 21-year-old Belgian has rocketed onto the radar of Europe’s elite after a standout season in Amsterdam: 17 goals and 15 assists in 44 games across all competitions. Those numbers have turned a promising youngster into a priority target.
PSG step on the gas
According to Italian transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, PSG’s hierarchy have now made contact with Ajax and begun negotiations over a transfer. The club see Godts as another key piece in a new-look frontline designed to keep them competitive at home and in Europe.
The Parisian strategy has been clear: move quickly, and speak directly. Sporting advisor Luis Campos did exactly that, sitting down with Godts for talks described as “very fruitful”. The meeting changed the dynamic.
Godts, impressed by the project laid out in front of him, made his desire to join PSG clear. For Paris, that kind of commitment from the player is gold in any negotiation. For Ajax, it is a problem.
Ajax cornered by player’s ambition
Ajax had hoped to keep hold of one of their brightest assets, building around him rather than cashing in. Now they must confront a reality every selling club knows too well: once a young star has his heart set on a move, resistance becomes difficult to sustain.
The Dutch club find themselves in an awkward position. They want a fee that reflects Godts’ breakout season, but they also know PSG are negotiating from a position of strength, backed by the player’s clear wish to move to the French capital.
If the two clubs can find common ground, PSG could wrap up the deal swiftly. That would hand them another dangerous option out wide at a time when uncertainty clouds the future of Bradley Barcola, who has attracted interest from several Premier League heavyweights.
A pivot after missing out on Diomande
Godts has also emerged as a response to disappointment elsewhere. PSG had been tracking Ivorian winger Yan Diomande, whose name repeatedly surfaced as a serious target in recent days. That pursuit is now over, with Diomande expected to join Real Madrid.
The European champions are desperate for width as they reload for another assault on every trophy available, and their move for Diomande has forced PSG to adjust quickly.
So Paris turn to Godts: younger, prolific in the Eredivisie, and eager to take the next step. If Campos can close this deal, PSG’s wide options will look very different by the time the new season kicks off — and so will the balance of power on the flanks in the Champions League.
