Patrick Dorgu Withdraws from Denmark Squad Amid Injury Woes, Says Coach Brian Riemer

Manchester United defender Patrick Dorgu has had to pull out of the Denmark national team after picking up an injury during their recent UEFA Nations League match. Denmark's head coach, Brian Riemer, revealed this development, expressing frustration over the mounting challenges his squad is encountering.

Injury Crisis Deepens for Denmark

The Danish side is enduring a difficult stretch with numerous players sidelined. Dorgu left the camp Sunday evening after sustaining an injury in Denmark’s 2-0 win against Wales. His withdrawal adds to a long list of absences that already includes key players like Andreas Christensen, Alexander Bah, Albert Gronbaek, and Kasper Dolberg. All have been ruled out since the initial squad announcement.

"We're sending him home now, he’s out and won’t be ready for next week. Further tests will reveal how long he will be sidelined," Riemer told Bold.

Dorgu’s Absence Affects Denmark’s Tactical Options

Dorgu's injury is a major loss to Denmark’s flexibility on the left flank. His capability to play across wide areas was vital for Riemer’s plans. The coach admitted the squad not only lacks depth in certain positions but is also showing signs of fatigue among the remaining fit players due to heavy demands.

"This is unlike anything I've seen before. I counted seven or eight players who would normally always be in a 23-man squad but are not here—either sent home or never called up. And now Dorgu has gone today. It’s really frustrating," Riemer told TV2.

Looking for Reinforcements

To manage the crisis, Riemer is considering calling up replacements to cover the wide areas. He is reviewing several options, including experienced players and some performing well abroad. His priority is finding individuals who can quickly adjust and handle the pressure of international games.

"It could be Anders Dreyer, Andreas Skov Olsen, who has started well in Turkey, or perhaps one of the younger players," Riemer said in an interview with Bold.

Rasmus Hojlund Shares Concern Over Dorgu’s Injury

The injury news hit striker Rasmus Hojlund hard. He acknowledged Dorgu’s significance to the team and expressed sympathy for his teammate, noting the disappointment if Dorgu faces a long spell on the sidelines.

"It’s a shame. We have a huge profile in Dorgu, who was also important at my former club. If he’s out for a long time, it’s obviously a big blow," Hojlund told TV2.
