Brian Brobbey became the first player in 19 years to score a hat-trick for a losing team in the Premier League. The Netherlands striker netted three goals during Sunderland's 5-3 loss to Manchester City on September 20, 2026.
This kind of performance is exceptionally uncommon. Since the Premier League started in 1992, only six players have scored hat-tricks but still ended up on the losing side.
