Premier League Transfer Updates: Salah, Rashford, and More
Mohamed Salah’s future, Marcus Rashford’s resolve and a flurry of Premier League reshaping moves dominated another restless day in the market, with several of England’s biggest clubs edging closer to decisive calls.
Salah in limbo – but not for long
Mohamed Salah’s camp has broken its silence, but not the uncertainty.
The Egyptian’s agent, Remy Abbas, confirmed that a decision on Salah’s next club is edging closer, yet still not made. “We still do not know where Mohamed will play next season but we may know very soon,” he said, underlining that there will be no circus around his client.
Abbas was clear on one point: Salah will not be used as a bargaining chip or a headline vehicle. “It is not our style to have discussions with clubs that Mohamed wouldn't want to play for, just for the sake of noise.”
Liverpool, already braced for a summer of change, now wait. So does the rest of Europe.
Newcastle eye Rushworth as goalkeeper market stirs
Newcastle United are weighing up a move for Brighton goalkeeper Carl Rushworth, according to Sussex World.
Rushworth, who enhanced his reputation with a strong loan spell at Coventry City last season, has been linked with a return to the Sky Blues. The Midlands club would gladly have him back after his performances there.
Newcastle may have other ideas. The report claims the Magpies are considering stepping in to beat Coventry to his signature, as they quietly reshape their goalkeeping department for the seasons ahead.
Rashford turns down the exit door
Marcus Rashford, under intense scrutiny for months, has made his stance clear.
According to The Athletic, the Manchester United forward has rejected several offers to leave Old Trafford this summer, some of which would have paid him more than his current deal. Money, this time, has not moved him.
Rashford is contracted to United until 2028 and, despite not playing for the club since early 2024, has chosen to stay and fight for his place rather than engineer a fresh start elsewhere. For a player whose relationship with the fanbase has swung wildly in recent years, it is a significant call.
Behind the scenes, United’s hierarchy now have to decide how central he remains to their long-term rebuild.
Liverpool widen the full-back search
Liverpool’s recruitment drive is not limited to the front line.
Anfield Watch report that the club have added Djed Spence to their list of potential summer targets as they look to bring in another full-back before the new Premier League campaign.
Spence, who has caught the eye with England at the World Cup, has also been linked with Everton. Liverpool’s interest, if followed up, would throw a Merseyside twist into the chase for a player whose career has needed a clear, stable platform.
Joao Gomes closing in on Aston Villa move
Aston Villa’s midfield looks set for another injection of energy.
ESPN report that Wolves midfielder Joao Gomes is due to undergo a medical at Villa Park after a deal worth around £34m was agreed between the clubs.
The Brazilian has already left Wolves’ training camp in Portugal to complete the formalities of the transfer. For Villa, it is another statement that last season’s rise was not a one-off. For Wolves, it is another high-value exit in a summer of uncomfortable decisions.
Ipswich move for Fatawu as Leicester brace for exits
Ipswich Town are pushing to add top-flight quality to a newly-promoted squad.
The Telegraph report that Ipswich have made an approach for Leicester City winger Abdul Fatawu. The Ghanaian is widely expected to leave the King Power Stadium following Leicester’s drop into League One, a relegation that has inevitably turned their best talents into targets.
Ipswich see an opportunity. Fatawu’s directness and flair would offer Kieran McKenna a dangerous wide option as the club tries to consolidate its Premier League status.
Rashford–Bernal swap idea falls flat
The Rashford saga has thrown up another twist.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Manchester United proposed signing Barcelona midfielder Marc Bernal as part of a potential swap deal involving Rashford. The expectation in some quarters was that Rashford could join the Catalan club on a permanent basis.
Barcelona went another way. They opted to sign Anthony Gordon instead, closing the door on that particular route out of Old Trafford. With Rashford’s release clause now expired, any future move would require direct negotiation with United rather than a pre-set figure.
For now, the England international stays where he is, his future again tied to United’s willingness to rebuild around him.
Liverpool turn to Bournemouth’s Rayan amid soaring prices
On the wings, the market has gone wild — and Liverpool are adjusting.
TEAMtalk report that Liverpool are considering Bournemouth winger Rayan as an alternative to Bradley Barcola and Michael Olise. PSG are said to want around £128m for Barcola. Bayern Munich, for their part, value Olise at a staggering £170m, with the player having reportedly asked to leave.
Those numbers force pragmatism. Liverpool are now looking at Rayan as one of several more attainable options, a potential solution that would allow them to refresh their attack without detonating their budget.
United weigh up Berge as midfield rebuild continues
Manchester United’s overhaul is not stopping at the front line.
TEAMtalk claim the club are internally discussing a move for Fulham midfielder Sander Berge, who is viewed as one of their key remaining transfer targets this summer.
Berge, if signed, would become United’s fifth addition of the window after Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans, Karl Darlow and Cristian Orozco. It would be another clear sign of a squad being torn down and rebuilt piece by piece.
From Salah’s looming decision to Rashford’s refusal to walk away, from Villa’s ambition to Ipswich’s opportunism, the market is moving quickly. The next few weeks will reveal who has simply shuffled the deck – and who has genuinely changed the game.
