PSG Targets Ajax Starlet Mika Godts Amid Barcola Exit
Paris Saint-Germain have turned their sights to Amsterdam. According to transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano, the French champions have opened talks with Ajax over highly rated winger Mika Godts, as they accelerate plans to reshape their attack.
Luis Enrique’s forward line is already in the middle of a major renovation. PSG are close to sealing a deal for Maghnes Akliouche from AS Monaco after beating Liverpool to the Frenchman’s signature, a statement move in a market where Premier League money usually calls the tune.
Now comes the next target.
Ajax dig in as Godts says yes
Godts has emerged as the next name on PSG’s list, but this is no straightforward raid on the Eredivisie. Ajax are determined to keep the Belgian, who has become one of the brightest young attacking talents in the Netherlands.
The twist: the player is ready to go.
The right-footed attacker has already agreed to join PSG after what have been described as “direct positive talks” with the club’s transfer chief Luis Campos. Personal terms are not the problem. Convincing Ajax to cash in on a cornerstone of their rebuild is.

Barcola on his way out
The urgency in Paris has a clear cause. Bradley Barcola is likely to leave this summer after informing the club he will not extend his contract, which runs until 2028. That stance has blown the door wide open for suitors.
Liverpool are currently in pole position for the France international and are expected to lodge their opening bid in the coming days. If that offer lands in the right zone, PSG will lose a key piece of their attacking puzzle far earlier than planned.
That prospect has forced Enrique and the club’s hierarchy to act. A departing Barcola means one fewer option on the left, an area central to Enrique’s positional play and pressing structure. PSG cannot afford to enter the new season light in that zone.
So they have gone hunting for a left-sided difference-maker. Godts fits the profile almost perfectly.
A left-wing livewire with Hazard echoes
Godts operates primarily off the left flank, driving inside on his stronger right foot, but he can also slot in as an attacking midfielder. That flexibility appeals to a coach like Enrique, who demands fluid movement and interchanging roles across the front line.
What makes him stand out is the mix: pace that stretches defences, close control that survives tight spaces, creativity that unlocks low blocks, and a clean, composed finish. It is no coincidence that observers have drawn comparisons with former Chelsea star Eden Hazard. Last season, the 21-year-old delivered 17 goals and 15 assists in 44 games in all competitions, outstanding production for a player still at the start of his senior career. That output didn’t just catch the eye; it earned him the 2025/26 Eredivisie Talent of the Year award.
He beat a strong field to that prize, including AZ’s Kees Smit, another youngster linked with several major clubs. In a league built on talent production, Godts stood tallest.

For PSG, this is about more than replacing one winger with another. It is another step in a deliberate shift towards younger, high-ceiling profiles who can grow into the club rather than simply pass through it.
