Paris Saint-Germain Prepares for Key Match Against Lille

Paris Saint-Germain head north on Friday night still searching for their first Ligue 1 win of the season, and Luis Enrique is ready to shake the tree.

Held 2-2 by Rennes at the Parc des Princes on the opening weekend, PSG arrive in Lille with questions to answer and a starting XI that is set to look noticeably different. According to L’Équipe, the Spanish coach is preparing four changes as he chases a first three-point haul of the campaign.

Defensive reshuffle on the flanks

Nuno Mendes remains sidelined through injury, so there is still no natural first-choice option at left-back. This time, though, Lucas Digne is expected to come in for Lucas Hernández, offering a more orthodox presence on the flank.

On the opposite side, Luis Enrique is ready to spring a surprise. Warren Zaïre-Emery is tipped to start as an unorthodox right-back, replacing Achraf Hakimi. The teenager’s energy and ability on the ball could give PSG a different dynamic in the build-up, even if it robs them of Hakimi’s usual thrust in the final third.

Marquinhos and Willian Pacho are set to continue as the central pairing, with Matvei Safonov in goal.

Midfield tweak and a statement up front

The changes do not stop in defence. In midfield, Lucas Beraldo is expected to come in for Vitinha, adding fresh legs and a slightly different profile in the centre of the pitch alongside João Neves and Fabián Ruiz.

Higher up, one of the headline calls comes in attack. Ousmane Dembélé is set to be rested, opening the door for Ferran Torres to make his full debut. The Spaniard earned this chance the hard way, coming off the bench last weekend to score twice and salvage a point against Rennes. Now he is in line to start, flanked by Désiré Doué and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in a fluid front three.

The XI that must deliver

For a club that measures itself in titles, going two league games without a win would crank up the pressure early. Luis Enrique is not waiting for that storm to build.

PSG’s likely XI vs Lille:
Matvei Safonov – Warren Zaïre-Emery, Marquinhos, Willian Pacho, Lucas Digne – Lucas Beraldo, João Neves, Fabián Ruiz – Désiré Doué, Ferran Torres, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

A bold, tweaked lineup. Now it has to bring the first victory of the season.
