Just after 10:00, Kodai Sano stepped through the doors. Twenty-two years old, coming off a strong spell at NEC, and now on the brink of a major step up. PSV are set to pay just under €15 million for him, a statement fee inside the VriendenLoterij Eredivisie and a clear sign that Peter Bosz wants more technical quality and energy in his squad.

By late Wednesday, the picture was clear: if both players pass their medicals, Bosz will get the two “top signings” he has been pushing for to bolster a squad already built to dominate domestically and compete in Europe.
This is not an isolated splurge. Earlier in the window, technical director Earnest Stewart had already moved decisively, bringing Sven Mijnans from AZ for €13 million. That deal underlined PSV’s willingness to buy proven Eredivisie quality. The arrivals of Sano and Kostic take that intent up another level.
