Rafael Leao Responds to Claims of Negative Influence at Milan

Rafael Leao has publicly slapped down claims that new Milan coach Ruben Amorim considers him a “negative influence” in the dressing room, calling the report a lie on social media.

The Portugal forward, usually a quiet presence on X, broke his routine after seeing a post repeat a story originally carried by La Gazzetta dello Sport. That report suggested Amorim viewed Leao as a disruptive figure in the Milan squad and was worried about his impact on the team’s atmosphere.

Leao didn’t let it slide. “You are lying,” he wrote in reply, before following up with: “Maybe because you are lying,” and adding three laughing-face emojis to underline his contempt for the claim.

The 25-year-old is absent from Milan’s friendly against Manchester United, but the club’s stance is that a minor injury is to blame, not any disciplinary matter.

Behind the scenes, though, his future remains wide open. Player and club have been sounding out the market all summer, looking for a solution that suits both sides. The response so far has been underwhelming.

Galatasaray, Besiktas and Fenerbahce have all tested the waters, yet none of their proposals came close to Milan’s initial valuation: 50 million euros plus 10 million in bonuses. Those numbers have scared off serious bids.

That stance is softening. With no acceptable offer on the table and the transfer window moving on, the Rossoneri are now prepared to listen at around 40 million euros.

The noise around Leao is growing louder. The next move, from club or suitor, will say everything about how Milan really see him.
