Ravens Rocked by Second-Half Surge from Queen's

Kingston, ON – For 45 minutes, Carleton had Queen’s exactly where they wanted them. Then the game flipped in a heartbeat.

The Ravens came out sharp on Friday night, snapping into tackles and carving out early looks at goal. Xavier-Etienne Patry asked the first question of the Gaels back line, with Damiano Totten and Marek Achadinha following up to keep Queen’s pinned in their own end.

Carleton controlled the tempo through most of the opening half. The Gaels couldn’t muster a single shot attempt, forced to sit deep while the Ravens moved the ball and probed for an opening. It wasn’t frantic, but it was assured. Professional. Goalless, though.

A few minutes into the second half, Luke Harrop was whistled for a foul in the box, and the night’s balance snapped. Damola Akanni stepped up to the spot and buried the penalty, handing Queen’s a lead they had never really threatened in open play.

The goal lit a fire under the hosts. Carleton barely had time to reset before the Gaels struck again. Isaac Molouba pounced to double the advantage, and before the Ravens could catch their breath, Sebastian Aguade added a third less than a minute later. Three goals in a flash. A tight, controlled contest suddenly turned into a 3-0 mountain.

Stunned but not resigned, Carleton pushed late to salvage something from the night. Achadinha rose well to meet a cross with a header in the final ten minutes, only to see the chance go begging. Adrijan Vrankovic then found a sight of goal, but his effort also failed to find the net.

The Ravens left Kingston empty-handed, their strong first half buried under a ruthless Queen’s spell after the interval. They won’t have long to dwell on it. Carleton is back on the road Sunday at 4:00 p.m., heading to Ontario Tech with a clear task: prove that Friday’s collapse was a blip, not the start of a trend.
