Republic of Ireland Secures 3-0 Victory Over Israel in Debrecen

The Republic of Ireland earned their first victory in the Nations League B3 group with a strong 3-0 triumph over Israel in Debrecen, Hungary. This came just days after a tough loss to Kosovo, showing a marked improvement in performance.

Early Dominance Sets the Tone

The Irish dominated the first half, scoring three times before halftime. Troy Parrott opened the scoring at 14 minutes, marking his 12th goal for the national team by finishing a cutback from James Abankwah. Soon after, Adam Idah doubled the lead, assisted by Jack Moylan, who then added a third goal himself in the 25th minute—his first competitive international goal.

Second Half Control

Israel tried to mount a comeback early in the second half but couldn't break through Caoimhin Kelleher's defense. Kelleher made key saves against attempts from Anan Khalaili, Dor Peretz, and Eliel Peretz. Idah nearly scored again, but his shot was turned away by goalkeeper Daniel Peretz.

Match Atmosphere and Next Steps

Before kickoff, tensions were evident as no handshakes took place; the Irish players respectfully bowed their heads during the Israeli anthem. Despite this, the Republic of Ireland began the match confidently and maintained control throughout.

The team now looks ahead to hosting Austria in Dublin on Thursday, while Israel will remain in Debrecen to face Kosovo.
