Richarlison Scores 2,000th Goal for Spurs in Premier League

Tottenham were chasing the game, the clock, and a bit of history. With just over 15 minutes left and Spurs 2-0 down, Richarlison found the moment that finally snapped them into life.

Pape Matar Sarr, boxed in but thinking a step ahead, flicked a sharp backheel into space. Richarlison reacted before anyone in the area, darting onto the ball and steering it home to drag his side back into the contest. One touch, one finish, and a small surge of belief rolled around the away end.

The goal did more than halve the deficit. It carried a number: 2,000. Tottenham became only the sixth club to reach that tally in the Premier League era, a milestone that stretches all the way back to the competition’s launch in 1992.

The journey started with Gordon Durie, who scored Spurs’ first Premier League goal in a 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace in August 1992. From there, the landmarks have traced the club’s modern history. Les Ferdinand delivered number 500. Jermain Defoe, the penalty-box predator of a different era, hit 1,000. Juan Foyth, an unlikely name on the list, provided 1,500.

Now Richarlison’s name is etched alongside them.

The Brazilian’s strike did not spark the full comeback Spurs were chasing. Despite late pressure, the visitors could not find an equaliser, and the milestone arrived wrapped in frustration rather than celebration.

For Richarlison, though, the numbers keep stacking up. This latest finish moved him to 12 goals in all competitions this season, 11 of them in the Premier League, equalling his best scoring return in a Tottenham shirt. Across his time in England, he now stands on 75 Premier League goals.

On a day when the result slipped away, the record books still shifted. Spurs fell short on the scoreboard, but their 2,000th Premier League goal underlined a simple truth: this is a club that, through eras and managers and styles, keeps finding a way to score.
