Rodri Likely to Miss Barcelona’s La Liga Opener
Barcelona’s biggest summer signing is unlikely to be on the pitch when their La Liga season kicks off on Sunday.
Rodri skipped full group training on Saturday, the final session before the opener against Elche, casting serious doubt over his availability for the first game of the campaign.
According to Spanish newspaper Marca, the midfielder worked separately from the rest of the squad and did not step onto the pitch during the 15 minutes of training open to the media. With that limited involvement, his chances of featuring in the opener look slim.
The pattern has been the same for two days. Rodri trained alone on Friday and followed the same individual routine on Saturday, a clear sign that Barcelona are not ready to rush him into competitive action.
Barring a late twist, Marca reports that his debut will be delayed by a few more days, forcing fans to wait a little longer to see the club’s standout summer arrival in action.
It caps a whirlwind week for the midfielder. He landed in Barcelona on Monday, was presented as a new player on Tuesday, and now faces an early pause before he can properly begin his Catalan chapter.
