Ruben Amorim, the head coach of AC Milan, openly stated that his team did not deserve to secure all three points after a 1-1 draw with Juventus at the Allianz Stadium. Speaking to DAZN Italia, Amorim expressed bluntly: “We didn’t deserve to win, if we’re honest, or more like Juventus didn’t deserve to lose.” He went on to explain his team’s struggles: “We tried to play our game but weren’t good with the ball. We had some control in the first half, but started losing possession frequently. We didn’t play well overall. We’ve been working together for two months and need to improve; this was a tough match for us.”
Breaking a Drought but Exposing Weaknesses
Cisse’s goal ended Milan’s goalless streak against Juventus in Serie A since May 2023 and made him the youngest player to score in his first two away games under the three-points-for-a-win system. Despite this milestone, Amorim highlighted ongoing issues: “We have individual quality, but simple fundamentals like how we receive and pass the ball matter most. Today, we were not good at those.”
He added, “When my team doesn’t have possession, we struggle. Juventus pushed many strikers forward, and while we defended well, we suffered during transitions when we lost the ball. We won’t change our style because sometimes it works, other times it doesn’t. What’s important is fighting to win. We could have won today, but Juventus also didn’t deserve to lose.”

Milan faces a demanding fixture at Lazio on Saturday, September 12, where improving ball retention and transition defense will be critical.
