Schalke Injury Boost as Gosens and Karaman Return
With the new Bundesliga season fast approaching, Schalke finally have some brighter news from the treatment room.
New signing Robin Gosens was back in the thick of it on Wednesday, taking part in large portions of full team training on 12 August. The summer arrival had damaged his thigh in a test match against Hessen Kassel at the start of the month, briefly stalling his integration into the side. Now he is edging back into rhythm at just the right time.
Captain Kenan Karaman has also rejoined team training. He had been sidelined by a painful pelvic contusion picked up in the friendly against Atalanta on 8 August, but has shaken off the worst of the knock and returned to the group.
Not everyone is back yet. Junior Dina Ebimbe continues to work away from the squad on an individual programme and will need a little longer before he can be fully reintegrated.
Two key figures stepping back onto the pitch, one still on the comeback trail – Schalke’s injury picture is finally starting to tilt in the right direction as the season looms.
