Scott McTominay Out for Month After Heart Surgery

Scott McTominay will be out for a month after Napoli confirmed the midfielder needs minor heart surgery to correct a benign arrhythmia.

The Serie A club announced on Tuesday that the 29-year-old has developed a "mild, benign arrhythmia", an irregular heartbeat that requires a procedure but is not considered life-threatening.

Napoli said McTominay will undergo corrective ablation surgery (PFA) in the coming days and expect him to return after the upcoming international break, offering a clear timeframe and a measure of reassurance for club and country.

The timing still hits hard. McTominay will miss Scotland's entire block of four Nations League group games between September 26 and October 6 — two meetings with Slovenia and one each against Switzerland and North Macedonia.

For Napoli, it is a short-term absence. For Scotland, it is a month without one of their most experienced and combative midfielders at a crucial stage of their campaign.
