Syracuse Falls to Boston College 2-0 Despite Dominating Play

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — Syracuse created the chances. Boston College scored the goals.

Despite pouring in 19 shots to the Eagles’ 8, the Orange walked away with nothing to show for it on Friday night, falling 2–0 at Newton Campus Lacrosse and Soccer Field. The loss drops Syracuse to 4-3-0 overall and 0-2-0 in conference play, while Boston College climbs to 4-1-1 and 1-1-0.

For long stretches, Syracuse dictated the tempo, pushed numbers forward and tested the home back line. The final touch never arrived. Crosses flashed through the box, efforts drifted wide, and the rare looks on frame failed to beat the Eagles’ last line of resistance.

Boston College waited for its moment and struck after the break.

In the 53rd minute, Michael Asare broke the deadlock, punishing Syracuse’s wastefulness and tilting the night in the Eagles’ favor. The Orange chased, pressed, and kept shooting, but the deficit only grew.

The pressure finally told at the other end. Russell Brown doubled the advantage, finishing off a move created by Moritz Gundelach, whose assist carved open the Syracuse defense and sealed the result.

Syracuse goalkeeper Kyle Jansen was called on sparingly, credited with one save as the Orange back line limited Boston College’s looks but couldn’t erase the two that mattered.

Now the focus turns quickly to a response. Syracuse heads to Colgate on Tuesday, September 15, for a 7 p.m. kickoff — a chance to turn volume into goals and possession into points before the season’s rhythm slips away.
