Thomas Tuchel Predicts Harry Kane Will Join Elite 100-Goal Club for England Soon
Thomas Tuchel Confident Harry Kane Will Hit 100 Goals for England
Thomas Tuchel, the England manager, believes Harry Kane is close to joining the exclusive 100-goal club for his country. The striker currently has 87 international goals and could reach the milestone in just 13 more appearances.
Kane Nears Historic Milestone
Kane scored again in England's recent 2-0 Nations League win over the Czech Republic, moving into eighth place on the all-time international scoring list. Only three players in men's football history – Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, and Ali Daei – have surpassed 100 international goals.
Tuchel expressed strong confidence in Kane's ability to close the gap quickly, stating, "He is closing in. He scored again. 13 goals left." When asked if he truly expects Kane, now 33, to reach 100 goals, Tuchel answered firmly: "Thirteen matches. You will not get another Harry Kane, first of all. He is the highest level of goalscorer."
Concerns Over Life After Kane
While focusing on Kane's current form, Tuchel warned that replacing such a prolific scorer will not be easy. Kane remains in fine shape, having scored in consecutive games, including against Spain and the Czech Republic. His impressive World Cup performance, where he netted six goals, helped England secure third place.
Tuchel commented, "There will be someone else but it will not be Harry or a copy of Harry. We will find a solution when it comes to it but maybe not me. It might be another 10 years." This suggests a potentially long wait for England to find a comparable striker.
Kane Focused on Present Achievements
Despite the hype, Kane stays grounded. He surpassed Wayne Rooney’s England goal record of 53 three years ago and will earn his 124th cap against Croatia soon. Last season, he scored 73 goals for Bayern Munich and is considered a contender for the upcoming Ballon d’Or award.
"I don’t like to think too far ahead, but of course, it’s getting closer. 100 goals for the national team would be something special without a doubt," Kane said. "It still feels like yesterday I just broke the record and I was away in Italy getting that one. The seasons come and they go quickly, so I just enjoy being out there with the boys on the pitch, wearing the Three Lions shirt and that won’t change."
Building on Team Performance
Kane reflected on his role as a striker, emphasizing the joy of scoring. "The striker’s job is to score goals first and foremost, and I know that, and I love doing that. It’s still the best feeling there is," he said. He also acknowledged his involvement beyond goals, contributing to build-up play and passing.
Regarding England’s overall display against Czechia, Kane admitted the team could improve on final passes and crosses, but celebrated the victory. "A win’s a win. Sometimes you just have to win the game and move on and tonight was one of those," he added.
