The chase for Yan Diomande is turning into the defining transfer saga of the summer, with Manchester City, Real Madrid, Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain all circling. Only one thing is clear: RB Leipzig are in no mood to fold.
City Step Forward, Leipzig Say “Not Enough”
According to Sky, Manchester City have now moved beyond simple admiration and made their intentions clear. The Premier League runners-up have not yet lodged a formal, written bid, but they have told Leipzig verbally they are ready to put a package worth 100 million euros on the table, bonuses included.
For last season’s third-placed side in the Bundesliga, that figure barely opens the conversation.
Leipzig’s stance is firm. After just one season with Diomande, they see no reason to cash in early, especially at a price they consider below his true market value. The message from Saxony is simple: 100 million euros does not move the needle.
Real Madrid Join the Chase
The pressure on Leipzig’s resolve is only increasing. As reported by The Athletic, Real Madrid have also made contact with Leipzig and held talks with the club’s decision-makers about Diomande. The Spanish giants are not just monitoring the situation; the report states they are actively working on a deal to bring the 19-year-old to the Bernabeu.
Sky go a step further, reporting that Madrid have already tested Leipzig’s resistance with a first concrete offer: a base fee of 90 million euros plus 10 million euros in bonuses. Again, a 100 million euro package. Again, Leipzig said no.
The rejection was described as polite, but the answer was unmistakable. Madrid, like City, will have to come back with more.
One potential twist lies within Madrid’s own squad. If Brahim Diaz leaves this summer, it could inject fresh urgency into their pursuit. The Morocco international is viewed as a candidate for sale, and Diomande would represent a high-end replacement in attack – younger, explosive, and already proven on multiple stages.
A 130 Million Euro Problem
Whoever wants Diomande faces a daunting number. Leipzig are not hiding it: signing the Ivory Coast international this summer is a mammoth task.

His rise continued on the international stage. At the World Cup, Diomande became a regular starter for Ivory Coast, registering one assist in four games.
