Youssef Belammari Injury Impact on Al Ahly’s Pre-Season

Al Ahly’s push to reset their season plans has been jolted by an untimely injury to Moroccan winger Youssef Belammari during a pre-season friendly in Spain.

The 26-year-old, who joined the Cairo giants from Raja Casablanca in January on a three-and-a-half-year deal, suffered a knee sprain in Wednesday’s match against Spanish side Badalona at the municipal “Bosc de Tosca” stadium.

He was unable to continue and was taken straight to hospital for scans and X-rays, Al Ahly confirmed through their official channels. The medical team will use those tests to determine the exact extent of the damage and how long the winger will be out of training and competition.

For now, the club only knows the area of concern: the knee. The real anxiety lies in what the images will show. The results will dictate whether Belammari faces a brief spell of rest or a long, grinding period of treatment and rehabilitation before he can return to the pitch.

It is a blow Al Ahly did not need.

The Red Devils are in Spain trying to rebuild after a bruising campaign in which they failed to lift a single major trophy, domestically or in Africa. This summer’s work is supposed to be about corrections, not new problems. Belammari, brought in mid-season to add thrust and creativity from wide areas, was expected to be a key piece in that reset.

Now the club waits. The diagnosis will not just shape Belammari’s immediate future, it will also influence how Al Ahly approach the opening stretch of a season they can’t afford to get wrong.
