Zinedine Zidane Plans Tactical Changes as France Gear Up for Key Belgium Match

Zinedine Zidane, the manager of France, has announced he will make thoughtful changes to his starting eleven for the upcoming Nations League encounter with Belgium. Facing some absences, Zidane aims to keep Les Bleus at the top of Group A1.

France Seeks to Maintain Group Lead

After a demanding 1-1 draw against Italy at the Stade de France, following wins over Turkey and Belgium, France is poised to defend its lead in the Nations League. The match against Belgium stands as a critical challenge since Belgium holds second place with six points. They bounced back from a 1-0 defeat to France in Brussels by beating Turkey 3-0 convincingly.

Injuries and Suspensions Force Squad Revisions

Zidane faces the absence of captain Kylian Mbappe, sidelined due to a knee injury sustained during the Turkey match. Defender Dayot Upamecano is also out, serving a suspension after a red card against Italy. Despite these setbacks, Zidane trusts his squad's depth and plans to rotate players carefully to maintain competitiveness.

"There will be changes, that's for sure. It is our fourth match, and we can't just do anything," Zidane told L'Equipe. "We will make smart changes, and above all, we will do it to be competitive."

Rotation Builds Team Spirit and Competition

For Zidane, changing the lineup is not just about resting players but also about strengthening team unity and motivation. He believes involving different players shows everyone’s commitment and fuels healthy competition within the national team.

"It is to show that we are all involved and that all the players are committed to this team, to demonstrate that there is a lot of competition within the French national team," Zidane explained.

He also reflected on the difference between working at club level and with the national team, expressing how much he values harmony within the squad. Spending two weeks with the players left him eager to continue pushing forward before the break ends.

Focus on Securing Knockout Stage Position

With seven points at the top of Group A1, France looks to take all three points against Belgium, which would solidify their place heading into the knockout rounds. This fixture will conclude the current international break for Les Bleus, who will next return to action in November.
