Barcelona’s revamped Camp Nou will host the 2029 UEFA Champions League final, beating Wembley Stadium in London, UEFA announced Tuesday. This decision reflects renewed ties between Barcelona and UEFA following the fallout from the European Super League saga.
The event in Barcelona is set a year before Spain teams up with Portugal and Morocco to co-host the 2030 World Cup. The 2030 final venue is still undecided, with Real Madrid’s refurbished Santiago Bernabéu and a massive 115,000-seat stadium in Casablanca competing for the honor.
Munich Confirmed for 2028 Final
UEFA’s executive committee also confirmed that the 2028 Champions League final will take place at Bayern Munich’s stadium, which was the sole bidder. This will be just three years after the 2025 final held there.
Camp Nou’s Size and Experience Stand Out
The selection of Camp Nou comes seven months after Barcelona formally withdrew its legal disputes with UEFA related to the failed Super League project initiated by major clubs including Real Madrid.
The ongoing renovation of Camp Nou aims to create Europe’s largest soccer stadium, seating 105,000. Currently, the upper tier and roof are still under construction. Beyond size, Barcelona emphasizes its hospitality and VIP offerings as unmatched in Europe, promising enhanced comfort and service for guests and fans.

The increased capacity should allow more supporters of the finalist teams to attend. For comparison, the 2026 final at Budapest’s Puskás Arena allocated 17,200 tickets each to Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal out of 61,400 available.
Barcelona last hosted the Champions League final in 1999, remembered for Manchester United’s dramatic stoppage-time comeback against Bayern Munich. The stadium also hosted the European Cup final in 1989.
Wembley has staged the final eight times since the tournament began 71 years ago, including three times since Barcelona’s last hosting in 2011, 2013, and 2024.
