The federation has unveiled the full calendar for the 2026-27 LaLiga season, featuring 380 Primera División matches scheduled between 15 August and 30 May. Barcelona will start their title defense against Athletic Club, while Mourinho's Real Madrid take on Real Sociedad. These opening games, along with Atlético Madrid vs Málaga and Valencia vs Betis, are set for midweek dates on 25, 26, or 27 August because those clubs had players involved in the World Cup semi-finals or final.
Key Opening Matches and Stadium Details
- Promoted teams Racing, Deportivo, and Málaga open against Villarreal, Elche, and Atlético respectively.
- Villarreal, Málaga, and Real Sociedad begin away from home due to stadium renovations, local events, or security reasons.
Early Fixtures and Clásico Dates
The Madrid derby will occur early, with Atlético hosting Real Madrid on 20 September, and the reverse fixture scheduled for 4 April. The first Clásico takes place on 25 October at Camp Nou, followed by the second leg at the Bernabéu on 9 May.
Scheduling Considerations and Breaks
The calendar was created by the federation, LaLiga, and Liga F, balancing more than 400 restrictions to avoid clashes with other Spanish competitions. This season marks Valencia's farewell to Mestalla, with their last home game set against Elche.
- No league matches during Christmas, with a break from 22 December to 2 January.
- International breaks pause the league from 21 September to 6 October, 9 to 17 November, and 22 to 30 March.
- Only two midweek rounds scheduled: round 6 and round 33.
