Tottenham Pursues Double Signing of Savinho and Marmoush from Man City

Tottenham are pushing ahead with an ambitious double move for Manchester City forwards Savinho and Omar Marmoush, with talks between the clubs described as progressing but not yet close to the finish line.

Sources have indicated to BBC Sport that negotiations are active and moving, though no agreement on fees or structure has been finalised.

De Zerbi Turns to Attack After Midfield Overhaul

Spurs’ interest in Brazilian winger Savinho is not new. The London club first made a serious play for him in 2025, only to see the 22-year-old choose to stay at Etihad Stadium. That decision has not brought the breakthrough he hoped for.

Savinho started just seven Premier League games last season, struggling to secure a consistent role despite arriving from Troyes in 2024 for £30m. Now, with his pathway at City still blocked, he is open to a move that would offer regular football and a central role in Roberto De Zerbi’s rebuild.

De Zerbi has already ripped up and rebuilt his midfield this summer. Mateus Fernandes has arrived from West Ham United and Sandro Tonali from Newcastle, the pair costing a combined £185m. It is a clear statement of intent, but it also highlights the next glaring issue.

Tottenham finished 17th in the Premier League last season and scored only 48 goals in 38 games. De Zerbi has been blunt about the need for more firepower. The midfield has been upgraded; the attack now has to follow.

Marmoush on the Move After Falling Out of Favour

Marmoush is the other key name on Tottenham’s list. Signed by City from Frankfurt in 2025 for £59m, the 27-year-old forward quickly found himself on the fringes under Pep Guardiola during the 2025-26 campaign.

He slipped down the pecking order, but still produced a respectable return: eight goals in 36 appearances in all competitions. Not spectacular, but enough to show there is a player there who can contribute if trusted and used regularly.

City’s exact valuation of Savinho and Marmoush has not been revealed, yet the expectation inside the club is clear: they intend to make a significant profit on both. With City already in selling mode this summer, that stance fits the wider pattern.

Rodri, the club captain, has already gone. Tijjani Reijnders has departed from midfield, and second-choice goalkeeper James Trafford has also been moved on. City are trimming and reshaping, and Savinho and Marmoush could be the next out of the door.

Gakpo Interest Complicates Spurs’ Calculations

Tottenham’s recruitment drive up front does not end with Manchester City. The club remain interested in Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo, whose versatility across the front line appeals as De Zerbi searches for more goals and more variety.

But the numbers matter. It is unclear whether Spurs could realistically finance a move for Gakpo on top of deals for both Marmoush and Savinho. Something may have to give. Either the double swoop, or the Liverpool pursuit.

For now, the focus is on City’s pair. If Tottenham can land them, De Zerbi’s new-look side suddenly has a very different edge. If they cannot, the question hangs in the air: where do Spurs find the goals to drag themselves away from another season spent looking nervously over their shoulders?
