Juventus Target Balogun as Striker Market Heats Up
The summer window has not exploded yet, but the big clubs are already circling their targets with intent. In Italy, Spain and England, the same theme keeps returning: goalscorers cost money, and the queue for them is growing longer by the day.
Juventus turn to Balogun
Juventus have fixed their gaze on Folarin Balogun. Gazzetta dello Sport reports that the AS Monaco and USMNT striker has emerged as a serious option in Turin, viewed as an alternative to Paris Saint-Germain’s Randal Kolo Muani.
The brief from Juve is clear: they want a forward who can stretch defences, run in behind and change the tempo of a game. Balogun fits that profile, but he will not come cheap. A fee in the region of €50 million is expected to be needed to tempt Monaco into selling, with Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham Hotspur all previously linked.
For a 25-year-old who has already shown he can score in major European leagues, the market is forming quickly. The question is whether Juventus move decisively, or get dragged into a bidding war they do not want.
Arsenal plot bold move for Álvarez
In London, Arsenal are weighing up a far more complex play. TalkSPORT reports that the club could use Viktor Gyökeres in a player-exchange proposal to land Atlético Madrid forward Julián Álvarez.
Atlético are understood to hold genuine interest in Gyökeres, 28, after a Premier League campaign that saw him score 14 goals in 36 matches. Yet the mechanics of any deal are tricky. Arsenal have not yet fully pushed for Álvarez, and the Argentina international is said to favour Barcelona as his next destination.
The price is brutal. Any transfer for Álvarez would be expected to exceed €150 million, a figure that instantly narrows the field. For Arsenal, that sort of move would reshape Mikel Arteta’s attack and likely accelerate a refresh of his forward options. Gyökeres, despite a respectable return last season, is one of the players who could be moved on to make room.
Around him, the squad is already being probed. TEAMtalk reports that Gabriel Martinelli is drawing interest from Juventus, RB Leipzig and several Saudi Pro League sides, while Leandro Trossard has agreed a €20 million move to Besiktas. If all of that comes to pass, Arsenal’s frontline could look very different by the end of the summer.
Barcelona eye Romero and low-cost firepower
Barcelona’s rebuild continues on several fronts at once. At the back, they are tracking Tottenham Hotspur captain Cristian Romero, according to Fabrizio Romano. The 28-year-old’s camp has informed Spurs of his desire to seek a new challenge this summer, and Barça are in the race, even while their priority remains a forward.
Romero, an Argentina international, has also attracted close attention from Internazionale. For Barcelona, it is a familiar balancing act: weighing what they need against what they can afford.
Up front, they are casting the net wider. Sport reports that the Catalan club are exploring moves for Hoffenheim striker Fisnik Asllani and free agent Dusan Vlahovic. Asllani, 23, has a €29 million release clause that keeps him in reach for a club still wrestling with financial constraints.
Vlahovic, 26, is technically available for nothing after his Juventus contract expired, but the numbers are not simple. Barcelona are said to be unimpressed by his salary demands, and Besiktas are ready to offer him a three-year deal. For a club that once hoarded elite forwards, Barça now find themselves shopping carefully in a market that rarely forgives hesitation.
Amorim looks to Old Trafford for Milan rebuild
In Milan, Ruben Amorim is beginning to put his stamp on AC Milan’s plans. Calciomercato reports that Manchester United defender Noussair Mazraoui has been added to his shortlist. Amorim knows the 28-year-old well from their time together at Old Trafford and sees him as a potential replacement for Pervis Estupiñán, who has been linked with Aston Villa.
Milan are preparing to open talks, but any deal is expected to depend heavily on Mazraoui’s own stance. United are not keen to lose him and will resist unless the player pushes for a move to San Siro. It is a classic early-window standoff: admiration on one side, reluctance on the other, and the player caught in the middle.
United weigh Camavinga as Tielemans arrives
Manchester United, meanwhile, are busy on multiple fronts. They have already completed one significant deal, confirming the signing of Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa after triggering the £35 million release clause in his contract. Tielemans, a central figure in Villa’s Europa League triumph last season, now heads to Old Trafford with the expectation of anchoring a reshaped midfield.
The club are also discussing a potential move for Real Madrid’s Eduardo Camavinga, according to Fabrizio Romano. For now, the Frenchman’s preference is to stay at the Bernabéu, and that stance could yet shut the door on United’s interest before it really opens.
There is movement in goal too. Football Insider reports that goalkeeper Radek Vitek is keen to leave amid interest from Celtic, while Juventus are set to refocus their attention on Tottenham Hotspur’s Guglielmo Vicario after failing to reach an agreement with Aston Villa for Emiliano Martinez, says Gazzetta dello Sport.
Greenwood, Diani and a changing landscape
Away from the Premier League’s giants, several notable deals are already over the line.
Marseille forward Mason Greenwood has joined Fenerbahçe on a four-year contract for €40 million, with 35% of that fee flowing back to former club Manchester United thanks to a sell-on clause inserted when he moved to France.
In the women’s game, London City Lionesses have made a statement signing by landing former OL Lyonnes striker Kadidiatou Diani for around £500,000 on a three-year deal. It is a move that underlines how ambition and spending power are spreading more evenly across the European game.
Europe’s dominoes waiting to fall
Across the continent, the rumour mill keeps spinning.
Al Nassr and Al Hilal are monitoring Barcelona midfielder Marc Casado, according to Sport. A Bola reports that Sporting CP are not currently pursuing a deal for Barcelona winger Roony Bardghji despite speculation. Crystal Palace have an eye on Arsenal midfielder Christian Norgaard, says the Daily Mail, while Paris FC are considering a €30 million move for Juventus and Canada striker Jonathan David, per Tuttosport.
AC Milan are leading the race for Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus, TEAMtalk reports. Real Sociedad and Real Betis are tracking Southampton forward Leo Scienza, who has already been linked with Tottenham Hotspur and Everton, according to AS. Ajax remain hopeful of signing Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen, reports Mike Verweij, and Football Insider claims Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz is open to a switch to Everton. AS Roma, meanwhile, are lining up a move for West Ham winger Crysencio Summerville, says Corriere dello Sport.
The names are piling up. The money is on standby. Once the first major striker deal lands, the rest of Europe’s plans will have to move with it.
