Rüdiger’s Fury as Madrid Slips Again in La Liga

Real Madrid’s defeat to Real Mallorca did more than damage their title hopes. It lit a fuse.

As the final whistle confirmed another setback in La Liga, Antonio Rüdiger’s anger was impossible to miss. The German defender, usually the embodiment of controlled aggression, turned that edge on his own teammates, furious at what he clearly saw as a collective defensive collapse.

The flashpoint came early. Mallorca’s opener, scored by Morianis from a cross delivered by Pablo Maffeo, carved through Madrid’s back line with worrying ease. As the ball hit the net, Rüdiger’s focus snapped immediately to Álvaro Carreras.

DAZN cameras caught the exchange. Rüdiger, visibly seething, marched toward the Spanish full-back and unloaded: “Man! You’re a defender. You need to press harder.” No ambiguity. No soft edges. Just a senior defender demanding standards.

The tension didn’t fade with the restart. On another defensive action, Rüdiger again went after Carreras, repeating his message and insisting on more intensity, more bite, more urgency without the ball. It was the reaction of a player who knows what title-winning defences look like and recognises that Madrid, on this evidence, are drifting away from that level.

Every dropped point now stretches the gap in the title race. Every soft goal feels heavier. Rüdiger’s outburst captured that pressure in raw form.

Vinícius vs Maffeo: Feud Rekindled

While Madrid’s back line argued among themselves, another familiar battle raged down the flank.

Vinícius Júnior and Pablo Maffeo have history, and Mallorca’s full-back leaned straight back into the role of irritant-in-chief. He tracked, he harried, he nudged at the edges of what the referee would allow, all with one clear aim: drag Vinícius out of his rhythm and into a personal war.

At one point, Maffeo gestured toward the ball and threw out the phrase “beach ball”, a pointed, mocking reference to Vinícius missing out on the Ballon d’Or. It was a taunt designed to sting, to remind the Brazilian that his individual brilliance still lacks that particular crown.

The duel added another layer of needle to a night already thick with frustration for Madrid. A team sliding in the title race, a senior defender raging at his own back line, and a star forward locked in a personal feud on the wing.

For a club built on control and dominance, the picture is clear: the emotions are still burning. The question is whether they will ignite a response, or signal a season slipping out of their hands.
