Salma Paralluelo Joins Lyonnes in Major Free Transfer
Lyonnes have landed one of the most devastating forwards in the women’s game, confirming the signing of Spain international Salma Paralluelo on a four-year deal running until 2030.
At 22, she arrives as a free agent, walking away from Barcelona after contract talks collapsed in June. A sprinting prodigy turned world champion forward, she now embarks on her first adventure outside Spain, part of a striking exodus from Barça that has already seen Alexia Putellas, Mapi Leon and Ona Batlle move on this summer.
Reunited with Giraldez
The move does more than just shift a superstar across borders. It reunites Paralluelo with Jonatan Giraldez, the coach who unlocked the most ruthless season of her young career.
Under his guidance in 2023-24, she hit 34 goals and laid on seven assists in all competitions, terrorising defences in Catalonia and confirming herself as one of the most complete attacking threats in Europe. That campaign turned her from rising talent into unavoidable headline act.
Her overall Barcelona record is just as emphatic. Across four seasons, including her breakthrough after joining from Villarreal, Paralluelo scored 72 goals in 131 appearances. In that time she helped stack the trophy cabinet with 14 major honours: three UEFA Women’s Champions League titles and four Liga F crowns among them. She leaves not as a prospect, but as a proven match-winner on the biggest stage.
Lyonnes flex their muscle
For Lyonnes, this is a statement. A loud one.
Already building an all-star squad with the arrivals of Caroline Weir, Maria Luisa Grohs and Johanna Rytting Kaneryd, the French giants have now added a forward capable of changing the direction of a season on her own. Paralluelo’s signing underlines a clear intention: to reclaim and then dominate the European stage, not just compete on it.

Now she crosses the divide, expected to deliver those same decisive moments in their colours rather than against them. The memory of that final will linger, but from July 27, when she reports for the start of pre-season, attention turns to how quickly she can imprint herself on a new dressing room and a new league.
Her official unveiling is set for four days after she joins up with the squad, a moment that will formally introduce one of the game’s most feared forwards to French football.
Lyonnes are already looking towards the 2026-27 campaign as the window in which this project should fully mature. If Paralluelo hits anything like her Barcelona levels, the question won’t be whether they can challenge for domestic and European glory, but who can realistically stop them.
