England Call-Ups Surprise with Alexander-Arnold, Palmer, and Teen Star Ngumoha
Gareth Southgate has ripped up a few assumptions with his latest England squad for the upcoming Nations League fixtures, folding in a clutch of form players and one eye-catching teenager while leaving out Phil Foden.
Trent Alexander-Arnold is back in the group and listed among the defenders, Alex Scott is rewarded for his rise in midfield, Cole Palmer’s club form has made him impossible to ignore – and 17‑year‑old Rio Ngumoha has been fast‑tracked into the senior set-up.
Foden’s omission is the headline absence. In an England squad that leans hard into versatility and youth, there is no room for the Manchester City playmaker.
Bold blend of youth and form
The goalkeeping department stays relatively steady: Jordan Pickford retains his long-held status as No 1, with James Trafford and Jason Steele providing competition and cover.
