Harry Wilson's Race Against Time for Wales' Nations League Return

Harry Wilson’s Nations League hopes have been thrown into serious doubt after the Leeds United forward suffered a quadriceps injury, leaving Wales and Craig Bellamy sweating on his fitness.

The 29-year-old had been named in Bellamy’s squad for a demanding return to League A, with Wales set to face Portugal, Denmark and Norway in September and October. Those plans are now under threat.

Leeds manager Daniel Farke confirmed on Friday that Wilson will miss Sunday’s Premier League match at Elland Road against Crystal Palace after reporting muscle problems following his last outing and during this week’s training sessions.

“Harry Wilson is out of this game, a quad injury, he reported some problems after the last game and also during this training week,” Farke said of the 69-cap international, who has scored 17 times for his country.

The concern runs deeper than just the weekend.

“He will also probably miss the Welsh games, so definitely not good news for him and also not for the Welsh team,” Farke added.

For Wales, preparing to step back into Europe’s top tier, losing a player with Wilson’s experience and end product would be a major blow. For Wilson, the clock is already ticking.
